For those of you that didn't know U-Haul is owned by Amerco.  Amerco is the holding company for AMERCO Real Estate Company, U-Haul International, Inc., Republic Western Insurance Company and Oxford Life Insurance Company.

     AMERCO, whose principal operation, U-Haul International, rents trucks, trailers, and tow dollies to do-it-yourself movers through some 14,000 independent dealers and about 1,350 company-owned centers in the US and Canada. U-Haul is also a leading provider of self-storage facilities, with more than 1,700 locations (some 340,000 rooms) in the US and Canada. The Shoen family, led by chairman and president Edward "Joe" Shoen, own about 40% of the company. AMERCO filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in June 2003 and emerged in March 2004. The filing did not include or affect U-Haul operations.

     Republic Western Insurance insures the stuff we can't live without and the stuff we have little or no room for. As a subsidiary of Reno, Nevada-based AMERCO, the parent company of U-Haul International, Republic Western Insurance, also known as Repwest, has built a niche market in the insuring of self-storage business owners and operators and their customers. Founded in 1973, Repwest provides AMERCO with a network of claims handling offices through the US and Canada. The company offers commercial and personal property/casualty insurance in 49 states and Washington DC.

    The company offers individual life insurance, annuities, and other types of policies under its own name and through its subsidiaries. Oxford Life Insurance subsidiary Christian Fidelity Life Insurance focuses on sales of Medicare supplement and funeral insurance to senior citizens in Missouri, Oklahoma, and Texas. Subsidiary North American Insurance specializes in credit life and disability insurance sold through financial institutions and vehicle dealerships in the South and Midwest. Oxford Life Insurance, which was founded in 1965, is a subsidiary of AMERCO, the owner of U-Haul International.
